20% into the project and I’ve found six plaques still up, with evidence of another three being installed (one of those being unveiled by Tillicum the Sea Otter – mascot of the Vancouver Centennial!). So that’s only 55% totally “missing”, which is a pretty good statistic almost forty years after they were first made.
For the category of the “thing” being commemorated, 14 plaques are for places and six for events. Understandable, really. Much easier to pinpoint something tangible.
And neighbourhood-wise, the majority of the plaques are Downtown, as expected. You can explore the sites yourself on my map!
